Studio Equipment

This page is not meant to be a detailed list of equipment that will be featured in Darksun Studios. Instead, this page should give those who are interested in the more technical side of recording, an idea of the quality of equipment that will be found in Darksun.

Darksun is centred around three key pieces of equipment:

1. The church building - Although not strictly a piece of technical recording gear, the church building that is Darksun's live room is it's most important feature to quality recording. No other piece of recording equipment, no matter how expensive, can emulate the richness of sound that is offered from this 1850s converted building.

2. Piano - In a facility looking to specialise in both Jazz and Classical music recording, the piano found in the studio is of extreme importance. The actual instrument has not yet been selected but at this point, is most likely going to be a Steinway Grand, or a piano of similar quality. If the Yamahas found in most Australian studios are just not up to the quality you are after for your recording, then Darksun Studios will be a perfect place for you.

3. Main Tracking/Mixing Desk - At the end of 2009, Darksun acquired the very special SSL AWS900+ SE. For anyone in the audio industry, SSL is synonymous with quality and performance. Darksun studios is attempting to mix the best of new audio technology with the best of older recording technology. This desk from SSL fits into this vision perfectly. It is a 100% analogue mixing desk but with full computer control. It is the perfect blend of new and old. If you would like to read more on this desk then click HERE.
